When you create content for your audience, keep these 3 rules in mind:
- Get in – Don’t bury the lead. Get the point as efficiently as possible. Avoid jargon and use words any reader can understand.
- Get out – Make your point, don’t expound on anything that isn’t directly relevant to your main topic. Use a link to more information, if necessary, but the main points should be evident in your content.
- Leave some sparkle – Find different ways to engage your audience. You want to keep their attention and keep them coming back for more. As you build your personal style, this step becomes incredibly important and powerful. Don’t be afraid to try new things to grab your audience’s attention (humor, video, listicles). With practice, people will know it’s your content without ever needing to see your name!
